World Curry: a world of possibilities in Pacific Beach
I really, really love curry. My only dilemma is deciding what type of curry I want. My husband usually wants Thai, which can pose a real issue if I’m in an Indian mood. Thankfully, World Curry can satisfy both of our curry cravings in one spot. A bit of curry and a tall Sapporo and I’m in heaven. I recommend starting out your meal with the delicious garlic Naan bread, warm from the oven. A complimentary small salad is served with your meal and you will die for the dressing! It tastes like ginger and garlic and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. They offer bottles of the dressing to take home, which I usually do because it’s delectable. For dinner, the hardest part is choosing what curry dish you are in the mood for. First, you choose your curry and then you pick beef, chicken, vegetables or tofu. Every dish can be prepared as spicy as you desire. If you’re anything like me, you don’t mess around — the hotter the better! The hearty, healthy Japanese curry has big chunks of veggies and chicken or try the vegetarian favorite, Caribbean vegan curry. World Curry also offers all the traditional curries as well — masala, panang, mussaman, keema and vindaloo. Every day for happy hour, it offers $2 pints of Kingfisher beer until 7 p.m. The Thai iced tea isn’t too shabby for you non-drinkers. Finish off your yummy meal with a bowl of hand-made coconut ice cream. World Curry has a funky, eclectic feel because of its garage-door windows and open floor plan. Recently remodeled, the restaurant is clean and inviting, perfect for a date night or quick bite out. World Curry is located at 1433 Garnet Ave. Hours of operation are Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m.
