JONAS BROTHERS’ ‘HAPPINESS BEGINS TOUR’ WILL COME TO SAN DIEGO
 
Grammy-nominated multiplatinum powerhouse trio the Jonas Brothers recently announced the details for the 40-city “Happiness Begins Tour.” Starting this summer on Aug. 7, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas will hit the road, stopping at Pechanga Arena in San Diego on Thursday, Oct. 17. They’ll bring along with them special guests Bebe Rexha and Jordan McGraw.
 
Tickets for the concert go on sale on Friday, May 10 and LiveNation.com.

PROMISES2KIDS PARTNERS WITH 24 LOCAL RESTAURANTS TO RAISE MONEY FOR FOSTER CHILDREN
 
Throughout the month of May, Promises2Kids has partnered with 24 local restaurants to raise funds for 3,000 San Diego foster children through Camp Connect, Guardian Scholars, Foster Funds and the A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center. 
 
The participating restaurants include: 264 Fresco, Coasterra, Cupcakes a la Yola, Davanti Enoteca, Dixie Pops, En Fuego, Encontro North Park, Green Dragon Tavern & Museum, JoJo’s Creamery, La Cajita , Masters Kitchen and Cocktail, Mustangs and Burros at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, Pacifica Del Mar, Park & Rec, Red O, Richard Walker’s Pancake House, The Crack Shack, The Good Seed Food Company, The Grill at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, A Tribute Portfolio Resort & Spa, The Whet Noodle, Urban Plates, Waypoint Public, and Working Class.
 
Each participating restaurant will donate proceeds from select menu items to Promises2Kids. For more information visit promises2kids.org. 

JCOMPANY PRODUCTION PRESENTS ALL FEMALE CAST FOR “1776” MUSICAL
 
JCompany’s production OF “1776” will be led by an all-female cast. The musical follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. Come see some of San Diego’s most talented actresses bring our history to life from an entirely different point of view.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IMPROVE THEIR ENGLISH
 
The UC San Diego International Students and Programs Office’s English Conversation program, English-in-Action is looking for volunteers to meet with international students and visit research scholars, spouses, and postdocs on a weekly basis to assist them in improving their English language skills and share American culture.
 
No knowledge of foreign languages or teaching experience is required. EIA volunteers attend an orientation session and have access to the materials and resources of the ISPO. Conversation Leaders can meet with students individually or in small groups of 2-3 and typically meet for 1-2 hours a week at a time and location that is convenient for both (on or off campus).

NATIONAL BORDER PATROL COUNCIL TO SPEAK AT POINT LOMA REPUBLICAN WOMEN FEDERATION LUNCHEON
 
The Point Loma Republican Women Federated monthly luncheon meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on May 15, at Point Loma Cafe, 4865 Harbor Drive. RESTORATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

CHEESE EXPO DEBUTS AT BRICK AT LIBERTY STATION 
 
Cheesemakers from across America will come together from 1:30-6 p.m. on May 19 at BRICK, Liberty Staton for the inaugural LIQUID CITY: CHEESE EXPO. Local breweries, coffee roasters, distillers and cider makers — featuring unique one-off collaborations, educational presentations, demonstrations, and explorations with cheesemakers, this event celebrates all things cheese, wrapped around San Diego.
 
The LIQUID CITY: CHEESE EXPO is the brainchild of Edwin Real and Rob Graff, both well respected in the food and beverage community in San Diego. This event benefits Kitchens for Good, a non-profit breaking the cycles of food waste, hunger, and poverty through innovative solutions in workforce training, healthy food productions, and social enterprise.

POINT LOMA ARTIST WINS AWARD
 
Point Loma resident Roberta Dyer recently won the Board of Directors Award, SDWS Enthusiasts Award in the 44th Annual Western Federation of Watercolor Societies’ exhibit, held this year at the San Diego Watercolor Society in May.
 
Dyer is an award-winning, signature member of The San Diego Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and International Society of Acrylic Painters. Her work focuses on figurative subjects in watermedia and collage, that lean towards the abstract and non-representational, with an occasional foray into landscape and florals.
