Triangle Chamber enjoys mixer
About 40 members and guests enjoyed sampling fine wines and beers at the Golden Triangle Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer held April 9 at Bristol Farms Café. Attendees also enjoyed excellent appetizers from Bristol Farms’ interesting catering menu.
Featured speakers were from the Yes on Propositions A, B and C committees. The Golden Triangle of Commerce welcomes and invites all candidates for public office and representatives from committees (for or against) any proposition to attend its events. While the Chamber does not typically endorse candidates or propositions, it encourages an open exchange of ideas and opinions for the benefit of members.
This month’s Business After Five was held May 14 at Venice Ristorante and Wine Bar, which features elegant Italian cuisine, excellent wines and tasty appetizers.
For those who prefer to network in the morning, don’t forget the weekly Networking Breakfast at Bristol Farms Café every Thursday. Meet-and-greet starts at 7:05 a.m., followed by a sit-down breakfast from 7:25 to 8:15 a.m. There is no charge and a variety of no-host breakfast selections are available.
The Golden Triangle of Commerce also warmly welcomes our newest member, the La Jolla Village News. For information on Chamber membership, please call chairman of the board George Schmall at Financial BodyGuards, (858) 350-1253.

Peace officers memorial held in Balboa Park
The memory of a border patrol agent who died in the line of duty last summer was among several law enforcement personnel honored at the 24th Peace Officers Memorial Service held earlier this month at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.
A helicopter fly-by, a rifle salute and a reading of the Roll of Honor recognized fallen county law officers. This year’s service gave special tribute to San Diego native Eric Cabral, 31, who died of a heart attack in July of 2007 while trailing a group of suspected illegal aliens near Jacumba.
According to the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation, 69 officers have died in the line of duty countywide since the mid-19th century. Of those, 30 were police personnel.
The foundation hosted the event in cooperation with the San Diego Crime Commission, the San Diego Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Association and the San Diego-Imperial Counties chapter of the Peace Officers Research Association of California.
