2007-'08 board takes over

Changing of the guard was the theme at LeTip Golden Triangle in April. Gary Miller of Miller Family Chiropractic Center is president for a second year, and attorney Larry Dougherty remains treasurer.
However, Colleen Connery, graphic artist and president of CoCo & Associates, is now the vice president ” besides being named MVP for 2006 for her contributions as membership chair, co-Top Tipper for 2006 and designer of the Le Tip International promotional brochure.
The club secretary is Steve Mader, owner of Signarama on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. Brad Sissons, Edward Jones financial advisor, has moved into the key position of membership chair, and Crystalynn Hoff from Adcentive Group is the new Tipmaster. She has renamed herself “Tip Mistress.”
New members run errands, appraise houses
California Errands, a personal concierge service, is owned by Andrea Ullrich, a recent transplant from Albany, N.Y., where she was a sales manager for a software company, to University City. She wants to take care of tasks for people “struggling to find the time to balance their work and personal commitments,” she said.
Her business is based on customer service, convenience and trust. She, and anyone who works for her, is bonded and insured and guaranteed courteous, dependable and reliable.
Ullrich has created romantic dates for Valentine’s Day, done home organization, makes deliveries, does house-sitting and takes cars to be serviced. California Errands services are priced at $35 an hour but can also be purchased in packages of 20 hours for $599, to be used whenever needed.
Danny Pleickhardt, who does appraisals for The Everett Group all over San Diego County, is also a new member and has gotten a couple of tips for appraisals from current members.
“It’s a nice opportunity to meet people and learn about businesses and services that I didn’t know about before,” he said.

FastFrame goes plasma
Michael Jones from FastFrame of La Jolla in Renaissance Towne Center has a story to share about how a couple of LeTip members got a new idea off the ground.
“It occurred to me that these new plasma [TV] screens needed something to improve the way they looked on a wall,” he said. “A frame makes it look like it belongs there. I made up a brochure myself and put it out in the shop.”
But in addition to that, he went to sign consultant maker at Signarama to get a banner to hang outside his front door.
So far this year, FastFrame has built four frames to fit 50-inch plasma screens for customers who have seen the banner hanging outside the shop.
“I find the banner draws more business than a mailing or an ad,” Jones said.
He had one customer, however, who needed a frame much bigger than he could make in his shop and guarantee that the screen would be safe. So he passed the job on to Tim Wainscott of Wainscott Wood Works, who was a member of Letip Golden Triangle about a year ago. Jones knew that Wainscott could build a large, strong and attractive frame. In a short time, three business exchanges and a handful of satisfied customers have so far grown out of one fresh idea.

News from Renaissance Towne Center
The “Remodel Your Body Contest” featured at Addie’s Studio in Renaissance Towne Center in March was won by Bruce Lee, owner of North Coast Cleaners. Lee became a client soon after Addie’s Studio joined Letip. Of all the contestants, he lost the most fat and gained the most muscle mass and received his prize in additional hours at the studio. The remainder of the entry fee went to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
North Coast is next door to FastFrame, and the business is also part of Letip Golden Triangle.
To contact any of the Golden Triangle businesses or to find out more about the club, visit the Web site at www.sdletip.com. Those who are interested in filling one of the vacancies may call Brad Sissons, (858) 458-9406. Le Tip Golden Triangle meets at 7:01 a.m. every Tuesday at Coco’s in Costa Verde.
