Ralphs supermarket in Point Loma opened amid fanfare on May 10 with neighbors, community leaders and employees attending a grand opening ceremony for the neighborhood grocery store. The Point Loma High School marching band and color guard enlivened the crowd, and free bags of fresh eggs, orange juice and English muffins were given to the first 300 customers. Local dignitaries participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony included District 2 City Councilman Kevin Faulconer, county Supervisor Ron Roberts and Jerry Sanders, former mayor and now San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO. “I am so excited to bring this new store to the residents of Point Loma,” said store manager Isabel Jones. “My staff and I are committed to bring to the finest, freshest and the best selections, the highest quality, along with the finest service each and every time you visit. We intend to be a committed corporate citizen and look forward to supporting the Point Loma community.” The nearly 30,000-square-foot Point Loma grocery store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provide local shoppers with a range of departments, including fresh and organic produce, a fully staffed meat and seafood department, a bakery overflowing with freshly baked breads and gourmet desserts, and a blooming floral department for flower and plant needs. The in-store Starbucks mini café and off-site fuel center also add to the full-service needs of the community, providing a one-stop shop for all of the community’s needs. “There has been excitement for this store to open for a very long time,” said Faulconer. “I can tell you that as the councilmember who is fortunate enough to represent this area, but also as a neighbor in Point Loma.” Ralphs is located at 1666 Rosecrans St. There is also a Ralphs gas station located at 1704 Rosecrans St.
