The Bucs, under head coach Dennis Pugh, headed into play this week for their final two games with a mark of 8-16.
According to Pugh, key players to date have included Zay Pena, Aiden Young and Parker St. Germain.
“All have been pitching and hitting well,” Pugh commented. “It is disappointing we have lost so many close games. A lot of that has been because of inexperience.”
Pugh noted that help is on the way, stating the young freshmen class is doing well this season. Boys volleyball The Bucs finished at 6-8 and narrowly missed out on the playoffs. “We came into the season knowing this would be a rebuilding year and the boys really played well throughout the season,” said head coach Nikki Caufield. “The boys lost four matches this season in five games for a total of 13 points. Had we been able to pull out those five-set losses, we would have been one of the top seeds in our division,” Caufield said. Overall, the team posted the highest win percentage in over a decade. Junior Zander Caufield led the team in passing, digs, was second in hitting percentage and led all Division III players in aces. Junior Josh Leone led all Division III players in hitting percentage and led the team in blocks. Senior Stephen Tarbell led the team in total kills.
