LA JOLLA — The second annual San Diego Beer Week returns Nov. 5-14, and there are a few events happening in the La Jolla area, one of which is the week’s official closing event, set to take place 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 14 at the Lodge at Torrey Pines. A $65 admission to the event buys attendees tastes from a dozen of San Diego’s top chefs, paired with 12 select beers. On Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., the La Jolla Brew House will host a four-course beer dinner featuring its own brews, as well as pairings from Lightning, Airdale and Manzanita brewing companies. For more information about the event contact Travis Smith, La Jolla Brew House Brewmaster, at [email protected]. The Brew House is also teaming up with the Venissimo Cheese Shop for a beer-and-cheese event on Nov. 7, and there is a to-be-announced event at the Brew House on Nov. 9. The beer week website asks that interested people contact Claudette Mannix at (858) 456-6279 for more information. At the Rock Bottom Brewery at 8980 Villa La Jolla Drive there will be a “beer and bacon” event that features a four-course meal — even dessert — all featuring bacon as an ingredient. The dinner will include a variety of beers and starts at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. “San Diego has built a reputation as one of the premiere beer destinations in the world, and San Diego Beer Week is a great opportunity to experience that beer culture,” said Melody Daversa, spokesperson for Karl Strauss Brewing Company. “All of San Diego’s breweries are pulling out the stops, planning insane events and pulling their best beers out.” For a complete beer week event listing, visit www.sdbw.org. — additional reporting by Laralee Olejnik The following video, courtesy of San Diego Beer Week, is from last year’s “chef celebration” event.
