San Diego Police are searching for four suspects in the beating of two women at a bus stop in Hillcrest on Jan. 9.

San Diego Police Department Lieutenant Andra Brown explained police officers responded to a radio call of a violent fight at 1:42 a.m. at 3700 Fifth Ave.

At the time of the attack, the two female victims were seated on the bus stop bench when two cars pulled up. One vehicle was a black newer-model car, possibly a Ford Mustang Brown said. She described the other as a silver four-door vehicle, possibly a Hyundai.

Brown said, “The two vehicles pulled up in front of the bus zone, which is painted red in this instance, and one of the females told the occupants of the vehicle[s], ‘Hey, this is a red zone. You can’t park here.’ The occupants of the silver car were apparently incensed by that and made rude comments to them, [used] foul language and bailed out of the car… attacking the two women, pulling their hair [and] pulling their clothing to get them down on the ground, where they kicked and punched them to their bodies and heads.”

There were four occupants in the silver car and two in the black car, Brown said, though only four of the suspects engaged in the fight. The other two told the attackers to stop and tried to end the beating.

Brown said, “Apparently, as the four suspects were beating the two women, the other two suspects were standing there telling them, ‘Hey, stop it. Get off them’ and were eventually able to stop the attack. The suspects got back into the two cars and took off.”

San Diego Police have descriptions of two of the attackers. One is described as a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old and 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with a shaved head. The other is described as a black male, also 20-25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 130 pounds with a Mohawk style haircut.

Brown said, “A report was taken alleging an assault with a deadly weapon. Not that [a] weapon was used like a gun or a knife, but that’s the charge that’s most appropriate in a case like that, where someone’s using fists and feet to beat someone who’s pretty defenseless [when] they are down on the ground.”

Those with information can call CrimeStoppers at (619) 580 – 8477.
