A lot to check out at library open house

By Kathryn Johnson

The Allied Gardens/Benjamin Library invites the community to come visit us and see our recent remodel. This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and learn more about what the library has to offer. There’s mystery, adventure, travel and more!

We have a fun day planned with lots to do for the entire family. There will be face painting, crafts for kids, a bounce house, kid’s games, and more.

We are hosting a free hot dog lunch served from noon – 1 p.m. After lunch you can dance to and enjoy the music of the Bayou Brothers.

We have prizes, too. When you sign up for a library card or show us your current card you will be entered into a raffle. Prizes include gift certificates from generous local businesses, books, toys, and more. Winners need not be present, but we hope you are.

The fun is located on the library grounds and the hillside adjacent to the library. Some seating will be available. Feel free to bring a blanket and enjoy the day’s food and music.

Screen Shot 2016-08-17 at 9.53.07 AMThis event is generously funded by open house event supporters Brother’s Restaurant and Allied Gardens Family Optometry, Inc., as well as the Friends of the Library. If you’d like to be a “Friend,” stop by the Benjamin library and we’ll hook you up! The Friends will also be hosting their Autumn Book Sale. Come and browse their book sale located in the library’s community room.

If you have any questions or would like a schedule of events, please contact the library at 619-533-3970.
