ABC 10News/KGTV announced on Tuesday, Sept. 8 that it will launch a 4 p.m. local newscast on Monday, Sept. 14. Titled “The Now San Diego,” the program will be anchored by seasoned journalists Ariel Wesler and Anne State, with meteorologist Angelica Campos providing area forecasts.
“From investigations you need to know about, to trending topics you want to know about, to San Diego’s most accurate forecast, it’ll all be on ‘The Now San Diego’ at 4 p.m.,” said 10News news director Tiffani Lupenski.
“‘The Now San Diego’ will be an hour of breaking news and big stories, live as it’s happening at 4 p.m.,” said ABC10/KGTV station manager Joel Davis. “It’ll be the type of afternoon newscast San Diegans have come to expect from 10News.” Wesler is a passionate storyteller, most recently national correspondent for “The List,” the nationally syndicated magazine program seen weeknights at 7:30 on ABC 10. He has also served as a reporter and anchor in San Luis Obispo and Bend, Ore. Wesler is a Southern California native, and a graduate of USC.
State is also a familiar face to San Diego news viewers, having worked at another area news station from 2002-2008. Most recently State was a news anchor in Portland, and has also worked in Chicago and Milwaukee. State is a Southern California native, and a proud UCSD grad. Winner of three Emmys, State holds a masters degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
“The Now San Diego” will be seen weekdays at 4 p.m. from 10News, followed by 10News at 5 with Steve Atkinson, Kimberly Hunt, Itica Milanes and meteorologist Campos.
